Former Migori County Governor Okoth Obado has agreed to surrender property valued at Ksh. 235 million in a plea bargain deal with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to end a Ksh. 73.4 million corruption case. This agreement comes after Obado and 17 co-accused persons faced charges of alleged misappropriation of funds from the County Government of Migori.

• The surrendered assets, worth over three times the contested amount, include eight parcels of land and two Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles.
• The plea deal was initiated by the accused through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and formally presented to court under relevant sections of the Criminal Procedure Code.
• A conflict arose in court as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) stated it had not signed the plea agreement, raising questions about its approval despite attending negotiation meetings.
