This move is part of Trump's “America First” policy aimed at reducing government spending that is deemed "woke" and wasteful.

• The U.S. government is cancelling a total of Ksh633 billion ($4.9 billion) in foreign aid.
• The proposed budget cuts initially targeted the ILO with a Ksh13.8 billion reduction and the WTO with a Ksh3.7 billion cut.
• Kenya, as a founding member of the WTO since 1995, relies on its global rules for exports like tea, fresh-cut flowers, and coffee.
• The United States is the largest financial contributor to the WTO, providing Ksh3.7 billion ($28.5 million) or 11.4 percent of its budget this year.
• Cuts have also affected U.S. foreign aid programs in Kenya's health sector, including the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
