Outgoing President of Afreximbank, Benedict Oramah, advocated for Africa's economic independence through increased intra-African trade and self-financing at the fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Algiers.
Intra-African trade rebounded to $220.3 billion in 2024, a 12.4 percent increase from 2023.
The IATF has facilitated over $120 billion in trade and investment deals since 2018.
The IATF will become an independent entity based in Harare, Zimbabwe, with Afreximbank providing $28 million in seed funding.
