The Rural Private Hospitals Association of Kenya (RUPHA) has issued a 14-day strike notice to the Social Health Authority (SHA), demanding the immediate settlement of Ksh.43 billion in outstanding claims. The association warns that a total of Ksh.76 billion is owed to hospitals nationwide, threatening the collapse of healthcare services.

• Outstanding debt to hospitals: Ksh.76 billion (NHIF: Ksh.33 billion; SHA: Ksh.43 billion).
• RUPHA Chairperson Brian Lishega stated that 50 percent of claims from Level 2 to Level 4 hospitals remain unpaid.
• The SHA collects approximately Ksh.5.4 billion monthly but faces claims worth Ksh.8.7 billion, creating a monthly deficit of up to Ksh.3.5 billion.
