The Kahawa Anti-Terrorism Court has unconditionally released Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji, a journalist, and a boda boda rider from terror charges. Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Koech dismissed the ODPP’s application to extend their detention, citing the prosecution's failure to present a case.

• Over 60 days passed without charges being preferred against the trio after their initial detention application on July 25.
• The defence team, led by lawyers Kibe Mungai and Kiragu Wathuta, argued the arrest was political persecution.
• The MP maintained his arrest was politically motivated, accusing Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen of being behind his ordeal.
