The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a fake gold merchant in Lang’ata Sub-County, Nairobi, for allegedly defrauding a Pakistani national of Ksh4,506,600 (USD 34,800) in a bogus gold deal. The victim was given 500 grams of counterfeit gold, which was later confirmed to be fake.

• The suspect was apprehended at Sultan Suites, Ngong View Estate.
• The complainant lodged a report at Karen Police Station.
• A search of the suspect’s office uncovered ten bars of suspected fake gold, smelting machines, a mining certificate, and two plastic boxes containing sand.
