The United States has paid tribute to the late Ambassador Serge Mombouli of the Republic of Congo for his significant contributions to advancing U.S.–Africa ties and diplomacy. Ambassador Mombouli passed away on September 5 in Washington at the age of 66.

• He served as Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in Washington.
• The African Union Commission also honored Ambassador Mombouli, with AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf highlighting his pivotal role in fostering relations.
