Airtel Africa has started construction of a new 44MW Nxtra Data Centre at Tatu City in Nairobi, Kenya. This facility aims to serve enterprises, government agencies, and hyperscalers amid rising demand for data centers in the region.

• The new Nxtra Data Centre will have a capacity of 44MW and feature 99.999 percent uptime.
• ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo stated the project aligns with the government’s digital agenda to expand broadband and strengthen Kenya’s digital economy.
• This investment follows other significant moves in the sector, including Microsoft’s $1 billion deal with G42 and Schneider Electric’s partnership with iXAfrica Data Centres.
