Kenyan lecturers, represented by the Universities’ Academic Staff Union (UASU), have issued a seven-day notice for a nationwide strike. This action, led by Secretary General Constantine Wesonga, is due to the government's failure to fully implement the 2021-2025 and 2025-2029 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).

• The union demands the payment of outstanding arrears totaling Ksh2.73 billion for the 2025-2026 Financial Year.
• UASU accuses the Interpublic Universities Council Consultative Forum (IPUCCF) and the government of undermining agreements reached after rigorous discussions.
• This follows previous strikes, including one in October 2024 and another in January 2025, both stemming from similar issues of delayed payments and non-implementation of CBAs.
