Nigeria's Ralph Opara has been appointed the new Managing Director of Access Bank Kenya (ABK), effective after approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). He moves to Nairobi from his previous role as Group Head of Commercial Banking Division at Access Bank Group, where he managed a balance sheet exceeding $1.2 billion.

• Opara takes over from Lillian Odhiambo, who served in an acting capacity since 2024.
• Access Bank entered Kenya in 2020 by acquiring Transnational Bank and later expanded by purchasing National Bank of Kenya (NBK) from KCB Group earlier this year.
• Opara will lead both ABK and NBK through an Integration Management Office (IMO) to build a stronger and regionally connected institution.
