Professor Makau Mutua, President William Ruto’s Senior Advisor on Constitutional and Human Rights, has revealed his advisory salary is nearly Ksh1 million monthly, comparable to a Cabinet Secretary’s earnings. He confirmed during a Citizen TV interview that his pay ranges between Ksh700,000 and Ksh800,000.

• Makau Mutua disclosed his salary is equivalent to a Cabinet Secretary’s, approximately Ksh990,000 gross monthly.
• He is one of an estimated 20 advisors appointed by President William Ruto, with several appointed following a 10-point agenda Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Raila Odinga.
• Despite criticism for shifting from the opposition to advising the government, Mutua stated he would only resign if he disagreed with the President’s ideologies.
