Kenya is set to deploy more Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers to United Nations (UN) missions for peacekeeping and security roles. The troops completed a readiness assessment at Kangaita training camp in Nanyuki on September 10, led by General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM) Major General Luka Kutto.

• These soldiers, considered "ambassadors of the Republic of Kenya," will perform core duties including Protection of Civilians (PoC), Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) of armed groups, and promoting Security Sector Reforms (SSR).
• Major General Kutto emphasized the troops' need to maintain the high standards of professionalism for which the KDF is known in peacekeeping missions.
• The KDF has a history of deploying troops to UN and international missions, with a recent deployment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as part of MONUSCO. As of August 2024, the fourth contingent of the Kenya Quick Reaction Force (KENQRF 4) was deployed to the DRC.
