Kenya is set to deploy more Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers to United Nations (UN) missions for peacekeeping and security roles. The troops completed a readiness assessment at Kangaita training camp in Nanyuki on September 10, led by General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM) Major General Luka Kutto.

  • These soldiers, considered "ambassadors of the Republic of Kenya," will perform core duties including Protection of Civilians (PoC), Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) of armed groups, and promoting Security Sector Reforms (SSR).
  • Major General Kutto emphasized the troops' need to maintain the high standards of professionalism for which the KDF is known in peacekeeping missions.
