The Cooperative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) has urged Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) to embrace sustainability reporting to enhance transparency, improve climate risk management, and build customer confidence. This call was made during a one-week Audit, Governance, and Risk Management Forum for Cooperatives in Voi.

• SACCOs are encouraged to adopt sustainability reporting to remain competitive with commercial banks in deposit-taking and align with international standards.
• Daniel Marube, Chief Executive Officer of CAK, highlighted that sustainability reporting is a global demand and crucial for addressing emerging issues like climate change and engaging the growing youth population, who comprise nearly 70 percent of Kenya’s population.
• The forum, organized in partnership with the Institute of Directors Kenya (IODK), aims to train leaders in modern governance practices, with CAK Board Vice Chairman Cyrus Magut announcing intensive training for directors and top managers.
