Lawyers across Kenya held a ‘Purple Ribbon March’ on Friday, September 12, to protest the assassination of their colleague, lawyer Kyalo Mbobu, who was killed on Wednesday evening. They marched to demand a speedy investigation into his murder.

• Kyalo Mbobu, a lawyer for 35 years, was shot eight times by unknown assailants while heading home in Karen.
• The lawyers, affiliated with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), presented a petition to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja in Nairobi, demanding perpetrators be arrested regardless of their societal standing.
• Notable participants in the march included former LSK chairman Ahmednasir Abdullahi and SC Eugene Wamalwa.
