First Lady Rachel Ruto has launched the second phase of an initiative to combat HIV, teenage pregnancy, and sexual and gender-based violence, dubbed "The Triple Threat," across four Kenyan counties. This program seeks to reverse alarming increases in HIV infections and protect vulnerable youth.

• Kenya recorded almost 20,000 new HIV infections in 2024, a 19 percent increase from the previous year.
• The initiative, driven by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), will initially benefit Samburu, West Pokot, Homa Bay, and Uasin Gishu counties.
• Currently, over 80,000 young people aged 10 to 19 years old are living with HIV in Kenya.
