President William Ruto has strongly criticized the warring factions in Sudan, the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), for prioritizing their interests over the needs of the Sudanese people, warning of a looming crisis.

• Ruto emphasized that a military solution is not viable and urged for meaningful dialogue for sustained peace in the region.
• The President met with Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ramtane Lamamra, in Nairobi to discuss peace efforts in Sudan and the wider Horn of Africa.
• The discussions also covered the UN's plans to address the escalating war in Somalia and combat Al Shabaab militants.
