Kikuyu elders ceremoniously planted a new Mugumo tree at the Karimenu II Dam in Gatundu North to reclaim a sacred cultural space lost during the dam's construction. This symbolic event, led by the Kiama Kia Ma Council of Elders, marks the rebirth of a significant cultural landmark.

• The original Mugumo tree, sacred to the Kikuyu community, was over 50 years old when uprooted for dam construction.
• Njoroge Mutugu, a community elder, expressed joy at the ritual, highlighting the Mugumo’s role as a spiritual altar.
