A bus participating in wedding celebrations in northern Nigeria fell into a river, resulting in at least 19 deaths among women and children passengers. The incident occurred when the bus, part of a convoy escorting a bride, rolled back from a partially collapsed bridge.

• Abubakar Muhammed, an official with the NURTW transport operators union, reported the driver may have forgotten to use the hand brake.
