The Cortex Hub has announced the MCP Hackathon Africa 2025, an initiative spanning September to November 2025 across over 40 cities in Africa. This hackathon aims to integrate African languages, legal systems, and development priorities into the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to shape the future of AI.

• The hackathon will conclude with a continental showcase in Cape Town on November 11–12, 2025, where finalists will present to investors and global technology leaders.
• Patron of The Cortex Hub, Andile Ngcaba, emphasized that MCP is Africa’s opportunity to transition from consumers to creators of AI standards.
• The prize pool for the hackathon totals $9,500, with $5,000 for the best overall solution, $3,500 for outstanding innovation, and $1,000 for excellence in execution.
