Over 50 political parties in Kenya are accusing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties of a concerted effort to deregister them before the 2027 General Election. This alleged "highgear" plan threatens Kenya's multi-party democracy, according to party leaders.

• Dr. Kyalo Muli, Interim Chairman of the Political Parties Caucus and Leader of the National Liberal Party, stated the scheme is "in high gear" and possibly complicit with the IEBC.
• The accusations emerged after a retreat of the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC) in Athi River.
• The caucus also claimed 54 parties are struggling due to being "starved of funds" and plan to petition Parliament for support.
