• Organizations including the Nubian Rights Forum and Haki na Sheria Initiative state applicants are required to produce parents’ IDs or birth certificates, obtain introduction letters from chiefs, and undergo checks by the DCI and NIS.
• The groups describe these as "simply another form of vetting, disguised as a series of steps" that lead to "arbitrary questioning, delays, and denials similar to the old system."
• They are calling for uniform and fair procedures nationwide and for amendments to laws that still permit vetting.
