Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has again been denied an appeal to overturn his 12-year imprisonment in a Ksh588 million graft case. The High Court rejected his application, siding with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

• Ferdinand Waititu was initially sentenced to 12 years in prison or a fine of Ksh53.5 million in February for irregularly receiving Ksh25 million.
• The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, September 16, by Lady Justice Lucy Njuguna.
• Waititu has also been barred from holding public office for 10 years and his wife, Susan Wangare, was ordered to pay a fine of Ksh500,000 or serve a one-year prison sentence.
