The High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah that challenged the recent appointments of judges to the Court of Appeal.

• Justice Lawrence Mugambi ruled that the appointment process was fair and lawful, citing no evidence of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) disregarding constitutional criteria.
• The petition, filed by Okiya Omtatah, alleged illegal creation of an additional position and discriminatory practices, claiming exclusion of judges from the Employment and Labour Relations Court and the Environment and Land Court.
• Justice Mugambi emphasized that requiring quotas for judges from specific courts would be unconstitutional, thus deeming the petition speculative and lacking merit.
