Gakoigo Stadium in Maragua, Kenya, is set to undergo a significant upgrade into a 10,000-seater facility at a cost of Sh700 million. This comes as the government plans to revitalize sports infrastructure across the country, following a directive to enhance sporting facilities.

• Youth and Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi announced the plans, emphasizing the stadium's future capacity to host national and international games.
• The project aims to reverse the stadium's long-standing dilapidated state caused by vandalism, reflecting a presidential directive for its rehabilitation.
• Additionally, 37 sports academies, including Mirira Sports Academy in Murang'a, are being established countrywide in Phase 1 at a cost of Sh1.7 billion.
