The Intergovernmental Authority on Development’s Climate Prediction and Applications Center (ICPAC) has issued a warning that Kenya and the broader Horn of Africa are expected to experience drier-than-usual conditions from October to December.
- Affected regions include most parts of Somalia, Djibouti, coastal Sudan and Eritrea, southern Ethiopia, Kenya, and central to southern Uganda and Tanzania.
- The warning comes as the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and IGAD estimate that 72 million people in the region are already food insecure.
