The Kenyan government has officially listed 36 specialised medical services unavailable in the country, making them eligible for overseas treatment under a new Benefits Package and Tariffs Advisory Panel.

• Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced a maximum cap of Ksh500,000 for overseas treatment per patient, ensuring value for money and quality care.
• The unavailable services largely include highly specialised joint and limb replacement procedures, paediatric procedures, and various therapies due to a lack of dedicated facilities and training in Kenya.
• To access these medical covers overseas, Kenyans must ensure their Social Health Insurance contributions are up-to-date, according to the Ministry of Health.
