Afristar, the operator of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), has launched a six-month training program in Kenya, led by professors from Guangzhou Railway Polytechnic, to enhance the technical skills of its staff.

Over 3,500 Kenyan staff have received advanced training in top Chinese Railway Institutions since the SGR's launch.
The current program addresses skill gaps in locomotive handling, advanced signaling diagnostics, and modern track maintenance.
Afristar has partnered with the Railway Training Institute in Nairobi and Guangzhou Polytechnic to develop new modules for future railway professionals.
