The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has launched the Banking Sector Cybersecurity Operations Centre (BS-SOC) to bolster the financial system's defense against escalating cyber threats. This new facility, operating under the CBK's Cyber Fusion Unit, aims to enhance cybersecurity for financial institutions and protect individual bank account holders.

• The BS-SOC will provide services such as cyber threat intelligence, incident response, and digital forensics.
• CBK is harmonizing the Commercial Banks Cybersecurity Guidelines of 2017 and the Payment Service Providers Cybersecurity Guidelines of 2019 with new 2024 regulations.
• Institutions are required to report cybersecurity incidents to the BS-SOC within stipulated timelines.
