Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called on Ethiopian authorities to cease the "harassment of independent journalists" following a series of "arbitrary arrests" targeting reporters. This comes after three journalists from Sheger FM were detained for reporting on protesting health workers.

• Ethiopia ranked 145th out of 180 countries in RSF's press freedom index this year.
• Laetitia Bader, HRW's deputy Africa director, stated that these actions prevent "public scrutiny of the government".
• Eight journalists are currently imprisoned in Ethiopia, according to RSF.
