The Isiolo county government has formally requested the national government's approval to reintroduce rhinos into its game reserves, four decades after these animals were removed due to extensive poaching. This reintroduction is aimed at bolstering tourism and enhancing security in conservation areas, bringing economic benefits to local communities.

• Isiolo is among the regions being considered as potential rhino habitats by the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Wildlife, Silvia Museiya Kihoro.
• The rhinos were removed from Isiolo four decades ago due to poaching and insecurity, according to Isiolo County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, Dr. Lawrence Mwongela.
• The reintroduction efforts will focus on Bisanadi Game Reserve and will involve collaboration with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
