The Machakos County Assembly is set to resume proceedings today to remove Speaker Ann Kiusya from office, following a High Court ruling that lifted a temporary suspension on the motion.

• The motion had been stalled since March after Speaker Kiusya challenged her planned ouster.
• At least 33 ward representatives had already endorsed the motion before the legal battle.
• Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka, who sponsored the motion, accused Kiusya of breaching legal procedures by presiding over discussions on her own removal.
• If Speaker Kiusya steps down, Deputy Speaker Stephen Nzue Mwanthi is expected to take over leadership.
