The High Court has dismissed a case seeking clarification on the mandate of the National Land Commission (NLC), ruling that the issues had already been addressed by the Supreme Court.

• The court cited the doctrine of res judicata, affirming that the Supreme Court’s advisory opinion already provided clear guidance on the roles of the NLC and the Ministry of Lands.
• The case was brought by NLC commissioner Abdulkadir Khalif.
• Justice Chacha Mwita observed that allowing an overlap in functions would create administrative anarchy, as land registration functions remain within the Ministry's domain.
