The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) successfully treated an adult lion in Meru National Park for a limp and dental issues. The lion, which had a previously healed tibiofibular joint fracture causing a permanent limp, also suffered from a fractured canine tooth.

• The treatment was a collaborative effort between the KWS Meru Mobile Veterinary Unit and the Born Free Kenya team.
• The veterinary team discovered a fractured upper right canine tooth located below the gum line, complicated by suspected ankylosis.
• The prognosis for the lion's full recovery is considered fair, with close monitoring and potential follow-up interventions planned by KWS.
