Boyd Were, son of the late MP Charles Ong'ondo Were, has won the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket for the upcoming Kasipul by-election. He secured the nomination after a commanding victory in the primaries held on Thursday evening.

Boyd Were garnered 18,210 votes, significantly outpolling his closest rival, Newton Ogada, who received 3,037 votes.
The primaries were conducted at the Rachuonyo South Sub-county headquarters in Oyugis town.
ODM National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga congratulated Boyd and urged party unity, stating, "The people of Kasipul have spoken."
