Boyd Were, son of former Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were, has secured the ODM party ticket for the Kasipul parliamentary seat in the upcoming by-election. He was declared the winner after strong primary election results.

• Boyd Were garnered 18,210 votes, significantly outperforming his closest rival, Newton Ogada, who received 3,037 votes.
• The tallying center was located at the Homa Bay County Government headquarters in Rachuonyo South Sub-county.
• One of his opponents, Dr. Adel Ottoman, who came in fourth with 463 votes, has pledged to support Were in the by-election, despite planning to challenge him in 2027.
