Kenya and Ethiopia have signed a new Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), 60 years after their first pact, aimed at strengthening military collaboration and regional security.

• The agreement was signed on September 24 in Addis Ababa by Chief of Kenya’s Defence Forces Charles Muriu Kahariri and Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force Birhanu Jula.
• The deal covers joint military training, border protection, counter-terrorism, defence industry development, and crucial intelligence sharing to combat extremism.
• Ethiopia, ranked 52nd globally in military strength with 162,000 soldiers, has one of Africa's strongest militaries, making this collaboration vital for Kenya’s security, especially given recent alerts about extremist activity near its borders.
