• The program, initiated in mid-2023, requires parents to pay a nominal fee of Ksh5 per meal via a Tap2Eat system embedded in a digital Near Field Communication (NFC) watch.
• Head of County Public Service Godfrey Akumali announced a public participation forum on October 1, 2025, at Charter Hall, City Hall Buildings, inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed policy.
• The county allocated Sh1.7 billion in FY 2023/24 and an additional Sh400 million in 2024/25, with plans to collaborate with the National Government for sustained funding exceeding Ksh2 billion annually.
