The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced it will not conduct a review of electoral boundaries before the 2027 General Election due to legal hurdles and limited timelines. The commission also projected a budget of Sh57.3 billion for the upcoming polls, scheduled for August 10, 2027.

• IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon stated that a boundary review requires a minimum of two to three years, making it impossible before 2027 despite a constitutional deadline that lapsed in March 2024.
• The committee chairperson Caroli Omondi warned that delaying the review could expose the 2027 elections to legal challenges and cautioned against relying on the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report for guidance.
• The Sh57.3 billion budget for the 2027 General Election includes significant allocations for continuous voter registration (Sh8 billion) and ballot printing (Sh5.9 billion), while the commission is also dealing with Sh5.7 billion in pending legal bills.
