Awil Abdirhaman Adulle claims to have transferred millions via M-Pesa and bank transactions starting in 2021 for the construction of a Java House outlet at his petrol station in Narok.
The complaint states that former Chief Executive Officer Derrick Cornelius Van Houten allegedly obtained Sh7.9 million from Awil by false pretence between October 2021 and January 2022.
Van Houten has denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh500,000; the Director of Public Prosecutions rejected an application to drop the case in September 2024 due to sufficient evidence.
