A Kenyan police officer was detained after being arrested with 1,007 rounds of ammunition in Nairobi. The officer, Corporal Isaac Kipngetich, was intercepted along Uhuru Highway by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operations Support Unit following intelligence reports of illegal ammunition.

• Kipngetich, an armourer at Turkana County Police Headquarters, was on annual leave and had no authority to possess the ammunition.
• The recovered 5.56mm calibre ammunition is suspected to be intended for criminal activities such as banditry and livestock raids in Turkana and neighboring counties.
• He will remain in custody until Monday, September 29, as investigators require more time to gather evidence, conduct ballistic analysis, and pursue further arrests.
