Wajir County has reached a landmark agreement with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), promising significant improvements for doctors and healthcare delivery in the region.

• All doctors currently on contract will transition to permanent and pensionable employment starting the next financial year.
• The agreement, following a meeting with Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, includes promotions for doctors, elevation of four consultants to Grade R, and lifting a ban on postgraduate studies leave.
• KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah hailed the agreement as a “significant victory,” emphasizing constructive engagement for industrial harmony and a supported workforce.
