In anticipation of Kenya's Communications Authority (CA) enforcing child online safety rules by October 2025, Meta has expanded its Teen Accounts protections globally across Facebook and Messenger. These measures, initially launched on Instagram a year ago, aim to create safer online experiences for young users.

• Meta has already implemented these protections for hundreds of millions of teens on Instagram.
• The expanded framework tightens privacy defaults, limits contact from unknown users, and restricts exposure to sensitive content for teen accounts on all Meta platforms.
• Meta has also launched a School Partnership Program in the United States, allowing educators to report problematic content directly for expedited review within 48 hours.
• Additionally, Meta partnered with Childhelp to roll out a free online safety curriculum for middle schoolers, aiming to reach one million students.
