At the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), Kenya underscored its increasing influence in Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance and development. The nation now leads the G77 plus China negotiations on AI and Data Governance, representing developing countries in global technology discussions.

• Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo emphasized AI's potential for peace but warned against misuse, supporting UN Secretary-General’s call for Voluntary Innovative Financing for AI capacity building in Africa.
• Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Sing’oei chaired the launch of the UN Dialogue Mechanism on AI governance, crediting the Ministry of ICT and Kenya’s Tech Envoy, Ambassador Philip Thigo.
• Kenya has proposed hosting the Africa Regional Centre of Excellence for AI and plans an expert group and international conference with the UN Secretary-General and President William Ruto to discuss financing models for AI capacity building.
