• Previously, Kuria had cast doubt on a 2027 election due to delays in appointing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners, who have since been sworn in.
• Several individuals, including Rigathi Gachagua, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang'i, Former Chief Justice David Maraga, and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, have expressed interest in the presidency.
