Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) has completed the restoration of a crucial 400kV Double Circuit Transmission Line, a significant step to reduce blackouts in northern Kenya and enhance grid reliability.

• The project, valued at Ksh46.13 million and USD 1,598,660 (Ksh207 million), involved replacing six collapsed transmission towers near Longonot.
• The line will facilitate the evacuation of up to 300 MW of wind power from the Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP) plant.
• The restoration of Circuit 1 was completed on September 20, with Circuit 2 scheduled for September 28.
• This restoration coincided with the appointment of Kipkemoi Kibias as KETRACO’s Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
