A Chinese national, Zhimin Qian (also known as Yadi Zhang), has been convicted in London for her role in a large-scale cryptocurrency scam that led to the world’s largest Bitcoin seizure, valued at over £5 billion ($6.7 billion).

• The Metropolitan Police seized 61,000 Bitcoin from Qian, who orchestrated a scam defrauding over 128,000 victims in China between 2014 and 2017.
• Qian fled China and attempted to launder the stolen funds in the UK, aided by Jian Wen, who was jailed last year for her involvement and for laundering proceeds into expensive properties.
• Many victims, primarily between 50 and 75 years old, were promised daily dividends from fraudulent investments, and some funds have been returned via a Chinese compensation scheme.
