The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched a mass voter registration drive ahead of the 2027 general elections, with reports of low turnout in several parts of Kenya.

• The IEBC aims to register 6.3 million new voters.
• In Marsabit County, IEBC Returning Officer Simon Sanchan Lokadio reported an increase of 47,976 voters, bringing the total to 214,508.
• Embu County's elections manager, Agnes Mutisya, also noted low turnout, with registration in Mbeere North constituency paused until after an upcoming by-election.
• Eligible Kenyans need an original national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport to register.
