The High Court has ordered Nation Media Group to pay Kisii Senator Okong'o Mogeni and his wife, Lady Justice Jacqueline Mogeni, a total of Ksh6.5 million in a defamation suit.

• The defamation suit stemmed from a November 2021 story titled 'Lawmaker Pushes Wife's Hiring as Judge'.
• The court, presided over by Justice Janet Mulwa, ruled that the publication implied the Senator misused his position to influence his wife's appointment as a judge.
• The damages awarded include Ksh5 million for Senator Mogeni, Ksh500,000 for his wife, and Ksh1 million in exemplary damages.
• The media house was also ordered to cover the cost of the suit and pay interest until full payment.
