The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) drive, aiming to register 6.3 million new voters nationwide, with a significant focus on young Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

• The IEBC has targeted 6.3 million new registrants, with young people aged between 18 and 35 accounting for 36% of the national population.
• To register, individuals must be a Kenyan citizen of at least 18 years, possess a valid Kenyan Identity Card (ID) or Passport, and not be a previously registered voter or have been convicted of an election offense in the past five years.
• Registration is currently available at any IEBC constituency office, with an intention to expand to all 57 Huduma Centres, and voters can verify their status online at verify.iebc.or.ke.
• IEBC Commissioner Dr. Alutalala Mukhwana stated that the commission is digitizing the registration process, including capturing the iris, though this method is under scrutiny for lack of public participation and legal verification.
