Professor Tom Odhiambo, a lecturer at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), was hacked to death on Tuesday, September 30, in Kakrigu village, Homa Bay county, during a land dispute. His father sustained serious injuries in the attack by unknown assailants.

• Professor Odhiambo was 55 years old and served as the Director of TUK's School of Mathematics and Statistics.
• The incident occurred while Odhiambo and his father were preparing to demarcate the disputed land with the area chief and a surveyor.
